ikea hack – ivar
If there is one thing we sure need in our new loft apartment, it’s more room for storage! Right now, we only have one cupboard to store stuff, but that’s such a small thing! This means all sorts of documents, administration, books and more are everywhere around the apartment. A thing my boyfriend and I both like to see different. Since we are both quite creative and don’t want (or have) a fortune, we loved the idea of the Ivar Ikea Hack!
IKEA HACK – IVAR CABINET
I first saw this one coming by on Pinterest a while back. First of all: I really like the thing Ikea is doing a the moment. They have changed their image big-time! Of course, it’s still mass-production, but the look and feel of the collections are more design-like and less “cheapy-looking”. Ikea is perfect if you want to go budget-friendly and you’ll come even further with some creativity. This Ivar cabinet is part of the Ivar shelving system. Next to the cabinet, the Ivar series contains all sizes of shelves and posts to build an entire system.
CHOICES TO MAKE
Now the only thing we have to choose is the colour we’re painting it in. This depends on how the kitchen turns out (the wall we’re thinking about is across the kitchen), and if we want to paint the wall in a colour too. Choices, choices! Next to the colour, we’re also still doubting about the placement. I’d rather mount it to the wall, about 20/30 centimeters above the ground. This creates more optically more room. Because it will be placed near the kitchen, you don’t want to create the idea of two large blocks on the ground. My boyfriend on the other hand, prefers the cabinets standing on the ground though, so we’ll have to fight over that one haha!
